Seoul Forest: A Lush Oasis in the Heart of Seoul
Seoul Forest, located in Seongdong-gu, Seongsu-dong, is a serene urban green space where nature and city life harmoniously coexist.
It has a rich history, having served as a royal hunting ground, the site of Seoul's first water reservoir in 1908, and later as a racetrack and golf course.
In 2002, the site was transformed into a vast urban forest as part of a project to reclaim green spaces for the public.
Thanks to contributions and volunteer efforts from over 5,000
citizens, Seoul Forest officially opened on June 18, 2005, becoming a sanctuary
of trees, lakes, and vibrant ecosystems.
Today, Seoul Forest plays a crucial role in Seoul’s green network, connecting the Han River, Cheonggyecheon, and various urban parks.
It is a "Forest of Life" that breathes with nature, a "Forest of Participation" created by citizens and a "Cultural Forest" where art and nature thrive together.
